New grab bar installed

Made a trip up to Columbia yesterday to pick up my new custom grab bar that Happy Bob made for me. Awesome work by an awesome guy. I also fabricated a clamp on mount for my depth finder. Got it all mounted yesterday evening. My wife is much happier that I will be safer now.(I am too)

Nice! How did you get the transducer cable run under the deck? I don’t see any access holes!

Theres a factory channel under the deck running all the way to the front. I just took a 1.25" hole saw and tapped into it. The hole is just infront of the right rear leg.

good looking boat, but why not get fancy with it and fish the depth finder wires up the tubing so there arent any zip ties

can you swim 5 miles? “NO” then what is the difference in 5 miles and 50 miles!!! Go for it!

Thanks. I would’ve but I would have to drill too large of a hole to get the plugs through. I thought about it but I couldn’t bring myself to put a 3/4" hole in it.

Nice job! The fabrication looks great and you have lots of room! Don’t forget to hookup to the kill switch when you are running…

I could’ve ran the power cable inside and only had to drill a 5/16 or so hole but the transducer wire still would’ve been exposed. I may try to find some aluminum channel to hide the wires under in the future.

Great job both of you. Looks like an extremely functional set-up. I might would consider moving the depth finder lower to the cross bar for better protection and less line grabbing, but to each their own. I do have a question. How did you get under the deck to mount the leaning post? Are they bolted in with washers/nuts or screwed directly to the deck?

Thanks. I’m torn on where the depth finder is going to work best. Visibility wise it works best up top but I have thought about the potential for it being a line hazard but the mount is purely clamp on so it is 100% movable just by loosening the hose clamps. The grab bar is screwed and 5200’d directly to the deck. I used large 1/4" screws, eight of them total, and I really believe it is not going anywhere. Obviously I predrilled the holes and then tightened everything by hand.
