Guy Harvey is now offering a new art medium to the public in the form of sand carved glass. Lex Melfi, a local sand carved glass artist, now has international licensing rights with Guy and is depicting all of Guy’s marine life scenes on glass. GH Sand Carved Glass can be found in every Scout Boats 35’ Abacos in the galley.
Sand carving, as opposed to etching, is digging into the surface of the glass with high pressured silica dust. It is extremely difficult to complete a piece without fracturing the glass and their are only a handful of people in the world that can do it successfully. The handmade sand carving gives the glass piece a more three dimensional effect and is illuminated in LED lights to showcase the work.
