My wife and I recently moved to the Charleston area, bought a house out in Hollywood. I’ve been keeping tabs on the site while we were in the process of moving. But now that we are here, I’ll be posting lots of questions regarding inshore fishing!! We have a 17ft cc and we spent a lot of time above the Mason-Dixon line fishing the backbays of Jersey. I pretty sure that we have a lot to learn about reds, trout, flounder etc.
Looking forward to discussing fishing with everyone!!
Its just like NJ except you fish all year round, catch something every time you go, and there’s always a wide variety of inshore and near shore species available.
Hollywood isn’t too far from Steamboat Landing ramp. Good place to start. Sure that you will never get skunked but if you do Flowers Seafood Market is near the entrance to Steamboat. Good luck.

Welcome to the site.
You do have thick skin???
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
Welcome aboard and yea you need thick skin to survive this bunch , hope to see post of you catching them up . Word of warning though with this bunch if no pictures of catch they’ll say it didn’t happen , but they’re really a great group and will offer very useful info if asked;;; Again welcome to CF
Of course, there are also those on here that will blast you for taking photo ops with your catch and they’ll tell you how you are responsible for dead fish so you’re pretty much screwed either way.
Welcome new to the area myself. I will pitch on where I can to help but I am still learning myself. Here in two weeks the boat will be in the water every chance I get exploring around. Shoot me a PM if you want to follow along.
Firefighter nice bit you will love it. I have the same from 2015 and it is very comfortable to fish. Just should have gone double power poles instead of a single.
WOW…thanks for all the kind welcomes! Sounds like I have to get used to some interesting back-and-forths! Reminds me a lot of the great discussions we had in the local bait and tackle shops in Jersey.
Welcome my friend, There is a lot of BS on here. However there is also some great info, from some great fishermen, and fisherwomen. There is good fishing in the Stono river, and the Toogoodoo. Both have public boat ramps. If you live in Hollywood you are fairly close to each one. As you well know there is plenty of shallow water, and places to run aground. When I moved here, I always fished the incoming tide, so I could easily get ungrounded with the rising tide. There is also a lot of good info, and knowledgeable folks at Haddrell’s point tackle shops. Two locations, one in South Windermire shopping center, and one in Mt. Pleasant. Get yourself a good chart, and study it. A good GPS is invaluable. There is also a good fishing club in Summerville, called the Summerville salt water anglers. They have a website. It’s only $25 to join, and they provide a meal at the monthly meeting. Haddrells can also put you on a good guide to fish area’s close to home. Remember points with oyster rakes, creek mouths, creeks, flats. creeks with curves with deep water on low tide, docks, grass flats, and the most important thing in my book is moving water.
