Metz Landing now has Herring. The location is the old Agnew dock and where the Spirit of Lake Murray is docked, on Shadowood Dr. near Ballentine. There is a boat dock close to the tanks or for $5 you can launch and park. Live herring, ($6 / doz.) frozen herring, ($5 / doz.) crappie minnows, and worms. Talked to the owner today and he plans on opening around 7 am weekdays and maybe earlier on the weekend.
Figured I would share for those who are looking for herring on the water or on this side of the lake.

Stopped by there yesterday…he has the poly tanks that were at Anglers South…has worms and minnows also. Number is 803-237-2595 and name is Johnny Shealy…Retired Army. I think David provides his herring.

Drove by today and could not find a phone number on sign or building and no one was around. Glad you were able to get a number. Suggest calling ahead if not picking up bait in the morning. When I stopped before, he did say he was getting Herring from David.

Thanks for the heads up! Good to hear we have David’s bait again in Ballentine area. Johnny is a good guy - used to see him a lot at Anglers South with the coffee crowd. I think Johnny has a boat storage facility as well.
As far as bait goes - Joe Epting does a real good job with his bait as well at Eptings Landing. His herring go for $7/dozen, but I have never had any problems with his bait. Best to call ahead 803-873-3469 to see if he has bait as he does a brisk business. You can get bait by boat or drive up.
Nice to have a couple of bait options in Ballentine.
