I recently brought my old inflatable pontoon one seater boat back down here and am going to take her out for the first time tomorrow morning. It’s one of those pontoon boats with the reinforced bottom to protect it from rocks, etc. I was wondering where a good place would be to launch from and try fishing. Normally when I go out I’m in a flats boat, center console or something with a motor so water/wind conditions or distance doesn’t really matter. This boat has two oars, so this is totally new to me. Does anyone have any good advice on launch sites or spots to try that aren’t A) way out there - remember I’m rowing; and B) not in a very boat congested or turbulent waters? (spots that would produce fish aren’t a bad thing either

Bowen’s Island, Folly Beach. The launch is good, it’s a shell-base instead of asphalt/cement, but you won’t get stuck. You will need to pay a few dollars to launch there but it’s 100% worth it.

thank you for the advice! The boat ha one of those stowable transport wheels under the seat/basket so I’ll be able to wheel it down to access areas instead of dragging it on the ground.

There is an old ramp on Rt 41, on the clements ferry side of the bridge that I see people launching Kayaks and PWC’s at all the time. I’m not talking about the membership launch that’s directly across the river.
If you are over in that location BEFORE you try and launch your boat I would stop and check for private property/no tresspassing signs. I’m not sure if it’s private and people just use it because it’s there, but I don’t know of anybody getting hassled.
If you’re up for chancing the legalities of the 41 landing, just ride 10more mins up hwy 17 to paradise landing…its off of chandler road I believe. Smaller water, typically less motor traffic. Just lock your stuff up well in truck…just like anywhere else I suppose.
