I have fished the waters around Charleston for many years and am looking for a new challenge. I’m looking to buy a yak and have talked to the boys at Time Out in Mt.P. They suggested a Wilderness Systems Ride 13.5’. He said it is a good, stable fishing kayak. Have any of yall used it and how does it compare to a Tarpon 120?
I paddled both the Tarpon 12 and the Ride (along with a few others) at the Kayak Festival. I preferred the Ride and ordered one from DD at Time Out last week. It was my impression that the Ride was most stable and fastest boat of all that I tested. It also seems to have more cargo area than most of the others. I think the Native Ultimate 12 has the most cargo.
On the down side, the Ride was also the wettest boat I tested. This is supposed to have been improved in the newer models. Wilderness does not put the holes directly behind the seat anymore, so it should be a drier ride.

Wag more. Bark less.
Sorry, can’t compare. I have the Tarpon 120 from Time Out and really love it.
I like my Tarpon 140. Lots of storage and it rides nice. Go to Time Out they are experts, have bought three yaks from them.
If a man wakes up early to go fishing he 's sleep deprived, If a man wakes up late to go fishing he’s fish deprived
I bought an Ocean Kayaks Prowler Big Game for duck hunting. It worked great. Stable enought that I shot out of it instead of wading. Very Pleased!
