Hey yall,
I have recently moved to Charleston and I have access to a kayak. I was thinking about trying kayak fishing for the first time in saltwater this weekend. I have previously fished the lake in the kayak.
I was wondering where some good places to put-in were. I have spend most of my time fishing the McClellanville/Bulls Bay so I am not very famaliar with the water. Where are some good launch sites? Safe waters to fish? and places to avoid/dangerous for one reason or another?
Hi Skeep I can answer you questions but great post, I will be down there, comming from the up state first week in June. Just bought a kayak for fishing an can’t wait. Hope you get some good info.
Check to your left and look at the SC Landings link for boat landings atleast. DolphinD has a pretty good list in some past message in this forum if you look through some old postings.
For safe waters, us kayakers tend to stick to skinny water where there hopefully aren’t many big boats, which reduces a lot of issues. The biggest problem is often getting to the skinny water requires passing through larger water. Stick to the edges, and keep your head on a swivel and you should be ok.
