New kayaker

Anyone know a good spot to try kayak fishing for the first time.

Hire Tommy to check you for safety and show you where to go. Great time saver!

Is this the Sid I’ve been trading e-mails with? A good starter spot that very low boat traffic is Copahee Sound. The downside of Copahee is you’d better pay attention to tides or you
'll be stuck in the mud for a few hours wating for water to come back.

Launching at Shem creek is decent

My favorite “starter spot” is launching at the old Pitt St bridge. you can throw your yak in the creek beside the road and start fishing with pretty decent catching from that point down to the bridge. As you get comfortable in your yak, you can venture into either the harbor or the ICW.

If you fish the harbor, stick close to shore and docks, no reason to get run over by a power boat
If you go to the ICW pay close attention to boat wakes. Some of the sporty’s throw a huge wake that can ruin your day.

Still uncomfortable at the thought? Hire me, or join the next meet and fish, or post up saying new guy looking to fish with experienced guy.

Tight lines,

Tommy
