on the wando river north of the hwy 41 bridge is a nice marina with floating docks that is not in use.

just kidding…But it has been up for a bit…I’m not sure if there is a development behind the current landing or what, but I have also wondered what that was…

The marina was only built because permits were about to expire. I am told the plan is to develop the little island that runs from the Dunes West area all the way to the bridge. It will have condos and a business park with restaurants and offices. It sounds like the only way to get a dock is buy a condo. Who knows in the end? I expect something like Tolers Cove but private.
Anyway the marina will not be used until the new bridge goes in. They are not even going to start the new bridge till next winter. I am told the investor is the same guy who owns Shem Creek.
They have big plans for the Wando in that area once the new bridge goes in. Should be pretty nice. I hear rumors of a new Berkeley Country public launch ramp also.
Man, a public landing there would be great. I keep my boat part of the year at Carolina Boatyard.
