A boat made out of this metal would definitely need less power to propel it through the water. You might even need to rethink a means to stop it once it got going, like a parachute.
That’s pretty spiffy. If they are able to apply the technique to other materials other than metal, you might be able to ‘wrap’ your boat hull with the stuff. It’d be like skimming on ice.

I bet it ain’t going to be cheap, that’s for sure. Up to an hour to etch a sq in of metal. Would be cool to do a Jon boat with the bottom etched like that.
Interesting. Being that the boat doesn’t actually ride through the water it displaces, i bet there would be air bubbles between the boat and the water. Need someone with a degree in fluid dynamics to get in here stat.

Who said such craft do not already exist? You have to wonder that if something like this has already hit the Internet where has it already been applied? Comprende???

what if the boat simply displaces so much water that it sinks in the hole it has created by said dispersion? pretty stupid technology if you ask me…which I know you didn’t :))

Lol, that crossed the brain here but there is still an air cavity in a boat. If that were the case every ship made of anything more dense than water would sink.

I was talking about a boat that had all compartments vacuumed…THAT boat would sink :))

Lol, I suppose it may if it did not have vacuum-sealed fiberglass compartments containing injected foam, which would contribute to positive floatations.

the vacuumed compartments are filled with dark matter…geesh, do I need to draw y’all a picture?
