New motor, no title.

I’m too excited to talk to DNR… and it’s sunday. Anyway, I got a 9.8 Tohatsu from my dad. It’s one of those friend got it from a friend things and that’s all good and well but I want to be on the legal side of the law.

So, no title. Not sure who originally owned it. Maybe it was stolen. Just putting that out there as a worst case. Does anyone know the process for me to get this motor titled and legal?

run he serial number through dnrs website and see if it has ever been registered in SC.
If not, its a pretty easy process. If it has been registered in SC, then its a hassle.

Just ran it through and they couldn’t find a matching motor and serial number. I’ll be heading to DNR soon. Thanks for the responses!
