Anyone have any opinions or pros or cons on this radio? The price is OK. Want to get one for my little boat, to save the wiring to Garmin hassle! http://www.standardhorizon.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd=DisplayProducts&ProdCatID=83&encProdID=8E6B84CBCC75E5A9C52CA71AA33BA6F5&DivisionID=3&isArchived=0
I haven’t used that one with built in GPS, but I’ve used Standard VHF for years. Good stuff.

I have the 1600 (the one without built in GPS) and have it wired to my hds. It so far has worked flawlessly for about 2 years. I also like the small size that doesn’t take up much room.

Got one, though only for few months. So far so good. In doing my homework this radio seemed the best value. You can spend more but that was not my goal. I wanted the GPS for an emergency. Have a personal beacon too, but this insurance would be cheap in an emergency situation.

Thanks guys! The price is right for what I want. I have a hand held but don’t quite trust it. I don’t like wiring those things up so thought this would be the route to go? That radio has a lot of things I’ll never use, but they are there if I want them.
I put that radio in my boat this year have only used it a couple of times. It’s attached to a 3ft antenna mounted on the console. I have no complaints seems to work well. Got it for the distress button. One thing that I’ve been thinking about is when my little one gets older if she plays with buttons and hits the right one I have 5 seconds to cancel the call before we get to wave to the nice men in the helicopter. I’m already paranoid about it and she can’t even walk yet. www.thegpsstore.com had the best prices when I bought mine and they had a rebate for it as well. Good luck

They have the rebate thing going on now also, Catchy! Maybe a piece of duct tape over the NO-NO button:question:
I’m needing to replace one of the radios on my boat now, think I’ll give it a try. Standard Horizon has always been good stuff.

Yep, I think I’ll put a short antenna mount on the console grab rail as I don’t like drilling holes in a boat! Something that will fit under the bimini.
Put one in last summer in radio box on T Top. Picks up GPS signal very well. I’m very pleased.

Easy, I’ve got a rail mount antenna bracket if you need one. Been in my shop taking up space for 2 years, it’s yours if you want it. I’ll have to measure the rail size, don’t remember.
