Won a little cash in a Super Bowl pool and looking to throw some of it at a new reel…I’ve narrowed it down to 3…the Penn Conquor CQR4000, Pfleuger Patriarch 9525 & Shimano Stradic CI4 2500
I have lots of experience w Penn products over the years. Very strong reliable reels. I have 3 Battle 3000’s that use mostly for bait fishing for reds. Strong reels, just not smoothest for casting artificials all day. Haven’t had any experience with the Conquor CQR4000 but it was recommended by a friend.
I own a Stradic CI4 3000 and absolutely love it. Light weight, smooth and strong drag. Leaning towards buying another but probably the 2500.
The Pleuger Patriarch 9525 has my attention also. Looks like a smooth casting lightweight reel comparable to the Stradic.
These three are all in the same price range. I know it’s all a matter of personal preference, just looking for some sound advice from my fellow low country anglers. If you own/have used these models, or have others to recommend would love to hear from you.
I use Shimano Stradic FJ’s at a little better price than the CI4. They are great reels, but I don’t think you will go wrong with any of the ones on your list. The 2500 Stradic FJ on a 7’ GLoomis Classic Popping rod ML Xtra fast is a great trout set up. You can cast a country mile with 10lb test power pro on it too. Hope this helps.

Shimano. Talk to Seth, the reel repair man at HPTWA, he’ll give you an honest opinion on the inner workings and longevity of each reel.
Edit, thought you said battle. Haven’t seen too much of the Penn Conflict. Definitely worth it to ask around about it
Thanks for the info guys…I ended up picking up the Stradic…just felt like a better fit for me.
Now, to find a new rod…
Nice! Fj or Ci4?
Thats a whole new can of worms buddy. Whats the price range? Tried the Gloomis greenwater? Its a great fit for the stradic IMO. But once you hold the Loomis walleye all others feel a bit obsolete

Went with the 2500 C14. Funny you brought up the GLoomis Greenwater , that’s the rod I have had my eye on- it did feel like a perfect fit, and is probably what I’m going to go with
