I have an old Ross thats been beat up beyond reconigition. About 10 years old. The gears and drag is failing. I’m ready for a new reel. I have an 8wt TLS Power Matrix that i’ll be fishing it with.
Any recommendations? i’m looking for mid range type reels $200 to $300.
You can also look around for the closeout Ross Momentums. I picked up a Momentum 6 (12 wt) for $275 when the original price was $545. I got it from Cabelas, but they have since sold out of all the gold reels and only have one model left in the black.
Both reels are workhorses that will last you a very long time.
I agree with Frenzy I got 2 Lamsons and they held up to strong bones on blistering runs and dead pull from permit. For 180$ U can’t beat it great sealed drag. Talked to a dude that came back from the tropics, he forgot to rinse his reels 2 lamson’s and 2 Orvis threw em in his luggage, airline lost the bag, 3 weeks later he gets it back and the hi $'s orvis reels had to be sent to Orvis to clean off all the corrosion etc…Lamson’s were like new no issues at all. That was enough for me.
Trying find you a used Tibor in good shape. I found one for alittle under 400.00 great great reels! If that is out of your range go with lamson have several of them too love them just no Tibor.
