New regs for stripers

Just wanted to give everybody an FYI. The legislature last week passed new regulations for stripers in the Santee Cooper system. The new size limit is 26 inches with creel limit of 3 fish, except during the period between June 1 and Sept. 30 when no fish can be kept( catch and release is allowed). The new law takes effect immediately.

Wish they would finally vote to turn Russell into a trophy lake.

I am told that GA is all for it but SC has ignored the request:frowning_face:

Also would like them to make a state wide limit at 5 fish per day per person

Does this NEW REG. go into effect THIS year??. If so, I need to get to the Dam on Friday nite!!

went into effect when the Gov signed it

Sorry, didnt read the last sentence..and thanks DFL, for not pointing that out.[:I] DAM!! Probably see alot of regulars at the dam Fri/Sat. nite..huh? Lynn?

Yes sir, I will be there between 1730 and 1800. Got to at least try and get a little more in the freezer to last until October :stuck_out_tongue::smiley:. What time will you be there? You can tie up to my rope if you want. I hope to be able to tie up and live bait first. If that doesn’t work, I’ll break out the trolling gear

Not sure..fyi> Since they fixed the doors, all the big bait balls seems to be gone. Might be able to get some in the corner tho. Thanks for the offer.

The new law doesn’t apply to Murray or Lake Wateree, only areas below those dams.

Thank god. Hopefully in a few years the population will start to recover. The numbers in the Saluda have been pathetic in the last five years or so.

Here’s the link for the actual information on DNR’s website.
