New Side-Scan Missing Pilings

New Simrad 12" evo2 screens look great, controls are intuitive, bait and fish showing up on sonar/side-scan/down-scan simultaneously.

But the side-scan is not showing dock pilings? Its probably operator error, but suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
OM

Probably your settings.

I know its not much help, but I have the lowrance hds and that thing sees everything.

It took me a while to get my scan speed to match up to my trolling speed.
Remember, youre not going to see much of anything unless youre moving.

I dont get a very good view of fish on small structure like pilings either. I’m still new at it though.

Keep messing with the settings it should get clearer… or worse. Either way good luck.

Try tilting the engine(s) up a little bit. In the boat I fish with side scan and twin engines, the engines block the transducer cone when trimmed all the way down.

Good tips; thanks. I thought the engine was clear since it does not show up on screen. But will try the tilt and settings.

The images are clear and have amazing detail. Poor fish are in trouble now!

capt larry has a good point.

I didnt even think about it, but I do trim mine up as high as I can and still steer.
If I dont, it looks a little fuzzy/bubbley on the left side vs the right.

Usually Im at the reef or looking at live bottom when I use mine, so I just came off a plane and dont even think about it.

Another thing - I hear that if your standard transducer isnt above the side scan transducer you will get interference, and not just shadowing.

My sonar transducer is a through-hull, and I am not getting interference from it, but will try the trim tip.
