New Skiffs

Appears there is a new HB “neptune” as well as a new Beavertail “vengeance”…

neither of these changes my mind that the new HPX 18 isn’t the perfect boat.

thoughts…

better alternative is to have both a Maverick and a Pathfinder

My 18 HPX amazes me every day. They can’t touch it!

i’d rather have the Beaver. I’m a big fan of Beaver:smiley:

Totally agree with Ben. The Maverick is in a class by its self.

Fished in Savannah and that new Neptune was there with Chris, owner of HB. Ill admit it was a good looking boat, especially when it was flying past me in rough waters. It had a 150HO that made her mooooove. When we were working a school of reds together on a shallow flat, they went just about everywhere they needed to go. I was impressed. Although, Im sure you can guess where my allegiance still lies.

This new style of fast, dry, and shallow is pretty cool direction to venture in. And now, theres enough builders out there to have some diversity and allow people to get exactly what suites them.

Ben,

What’s your real world draft with the 150?

For an 18’ plus boat, it fishes really light, and like any light boat, it’s draft and speed are very weight sensitive. My boat draws a true 8" with two anglers and a light load, but I snake around in 7" in soft mud regularly. It draws 9" with a load and I can easily fish 3 and me. I basically fish it anywhere I used to fish my 17 HPX-V. It handles the 150 better than I would have imagined and I love the extra power. It would fish better with a 115, but I’m happy with the compromise. When it lifts up on the pad and takes off, it feels like you’re in a jet!
