New to Area

I am new to SC.(Folly Beach) Looking to do some flyfishing for reds and trout. Here is my starter assortment of flies. Just wondering if I’m on the right track.

crab and shrimp flies are good for autumn flats. clousers are good for the winter mud flats

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Looks OK. Here is an assortment I suggested to a guy a year or two ago. Basic mix that have caught most local species; flounder, trout, reds, spanish, etc…

you an Andersen rep?

Might be the only time I ever used that thing. Did I do it right? I couldn't guess where half the crap on my desk comes from? I don't "rep." any companies, though.

Well the chart/pink chain caught me my first trout today. It was only 11" but I’m on the board.

I’ve been reading. People say the tall grass is muck and the short grass is hard. I’ve only seen one length grass here (Folly) is it short or long? I’ve done some walking through it and it has both types of surfaces.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Most of the grass is long. And the “rule” is just general but, a good one.

If I was a trout, I think I would eat that “Chain Eye” fly. And 11" inch trout in Folly during the winter is a pretty strong showing.

folly is such a hard place to fish. i know of a couple areas to wade fish on folly but they are behind peoples houses. if you seee a spot i would just go up and ask them if they mind you using the property for parking and fishing the marsh behind them. but google maps myfriend. and i also thought that the best flies for winter are a dark black or purple fly, just ask hurricane701 or mad mike or scotty d your questions

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the worm.

As an easy rule short grass less than 6 inches good, no water either hard or you’re going swimming, and tall grass you might sink up to your head, its worked well for me, not flawless, but always watch your step and I like to go with someone …shoot me a pm I will tell ya more

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
