Are there any decent areas I can fly fish without a boat?
Yes.
And where might those be, please?
its gonna take a few beers outta us to give up that info. a few few few… come out to the next staff meeting, and gather intel.
its tricky with the mud round here to wade w/o any means of floation. it can be as simple as a float tube/canoe/yak, but you will be severly limited by the mud. short grass=wadable. long (spartina)=not. welcome to town, you’ll love it!
Thanks…do you know when and where the next meeting is? It’s not posted on the club forum.
Good question… when is our next meetin??? BTW… I have been fishing here for a LONG time and I only know of 2 places you can walk out to and I am sworn to secrecy on both… Get a kayak and I can show ya a ton of places to walk but you do need a yak to get to them…

Scotty I think I owe you a 6 pack for showing me Redfishville. And I owe Dave a case for showing me that secret island you guys fished in Kiawah. Still haven’t revealed that location over a year later

Why, yes it is my fellow Hokie! Graduated in 2008 and moved here December 2009. Good to find another on here.
Fraternity? Favorite bar? What girls did you hang out with? Where did you live? I graduated May 07. Lived in Charleston summer of '08. Back in VA at the moment working to save some money before back to guiding in Colorado this summer. Where do you live now? I’ve got a feeling I’ll be back residing in Charleston at some point in my life

No frat for me. Lived in Foxridge. I liked Sharkeys and TOTS. All of downtown was pretty good. Just moved down here and took a job out at Kiawah on one of the golf courses. I currently live in West Ashley. What was your major? Mine was turfgrass. Definetly let me know if you come back down here. Where are you in VA now? email is in my profile.

yeah I fished in the ponds the other day, but no luck…any suggestions…I work on one of the golf courses and have easy access…so I look to fish there quite a lot
Are you tryig different patterns and varying your presentations? Some people swear by a certian pattern but they know hwo to work it and if you don’t it won’t work for you… for example I was fishing copperheads like a clouser, stripping them fast and jerky and I was spooking fish left and right… once I let it sit and slowed down I started hooking fish… Same deal wiht crab patterns… I tried to make it look like the crab was running away… again spooking fish… crabs don;t run a away… once I leaned to let it sit I started CATCHING fish … talk to Colt on a PM or E-mail and ask him what is working and how… that kid can flat out Fish… serioulsy… he’ll give ya good advice…

ponds are pretty much dead this time of year, if you can find a real warm, sunny, dead calm day you can see some spottails movin around in the ponds and sight cast, but lately i’ve just been mullet fishing with a size 12 algae fly, don’t laugh just tryin to keep the rod bent. Once April rolls around they’ll start heatin up
