Hey everyone!
I hope this is the right place to put this.
I am new to the kayak fishing sport, been surf fishing my whole life since I was about ten.
Got my first kayak about a month and a half ago and have been giving it a shot a few times over the weekends when my school work allows. I’m pretty new to inshore fishing and really want to get better. I’ve been skunked the last three times I’ve been out. I know its part of the deal, but I also have a feeling Im not maximizing my chances cause of bad techniques.
If you guys wouldn’t mind, I’d love to know if there is anyone out there who wouldn’t mine being a source of advice and wisdom on the sport in the area.
I’d love to be able to ask questions and such.
I learn quick and listen closely.
If anyone would be interested in helping me, I’d greatly appreciate it.
I know someone out there might like this kind of thing.
If you are interested, I guess the next thing to do is send me a PM.
Thank you guys so much for all the advice and tips Ive already picked up over the past few weeks.
I check the forums multiple times a day and try to read all I can.
If you like to read, head to KayakFishSC web site and go through the blog.
There are 3 years of fishing reports, and several full length articles on catching trout and reds, gearing up and prospecting for fish.
Another good source is the Lowcountry Kayak Anglers. We are a newly formed club for kayak anglers in the lowcountry we post on here and we also have a Web site & a Facebook page both by the same name. We do monthly meet & fish events and you can pick up a lot of helpful hints and you get to learn some new areas that you may not have thought about fishing. We have a local fishing tournament coming up this week there is a thread on here about it if you can come on out. Hope to see you at one of the meet & fish events if you can’t make the tournament. Lots of good info here on the forums…many, many pages of archived topics in this kayak section alone…
‘Too Busy’ is one of the old heads here - lots of good info on his website too.
Take a look at our kayak fishing club - one of the reasons we formed it was to help folks like you get started. Check out the links in my signature. The Facebook group page link for the LKA is there as well. Look forward to seeing you at a future event.
Too Busy-- I appreciate your recommendations. I’m gonna check them out when I get the chance! Definitely gonna watch some of your youtube vids as well. Thanks SO much
Going2miss_her – sounds good, I hope to check it out!
Elgeebee-- Ive been going back deep in the forums to find some good stuff. I appreciate you guys doing the bulk work so young guns like me can come in and reap the benefits!
haha Thanks again to all you guys!
Another new convert, I decided to combine both my Love of fishing with my like of Kayaking. Now to find fishing buds.
I will be on the water Saturday in the Tourney.
Thanks,

The FB page is also a good place to post to look for a fishing buddy. There are some of us who are out there every weekend - shouldn’t be too hard to find someone to fish with. Y’all are always welcome to tag along with me - no promises on the fish but I enjoy meeting new kayak anglers.
