new to kayak fishing

I have lived here for a little over a year. I moved from South Florida, and an avid red fisher. I got a kayak last week, and got all new gear for the waters here. I went out 4 day in a row and I finally got into some Reds at Bushy park. I have learned TON from this forum and wanted to thank all that have posted.
I kept 2, both about 24 inches long, and I released about 9. I enjoyed the ride from the Reds here. It is much different than from a boat, but I LOVE MY KAYAK!!!
Now that I know how to catch the Reds, any idea where to catch the spec trout?

Thanks,

Welcome. Probably should not be keeping the 24’s. Just a little over the slot, just saying.

They were slot fish. I measured on the sticker from DNR. They were close but still keepers.

Hey just to clear that up the slot is 15 to 23 inches

grab the gaff and another cold beer

I wonder if DNR will adjust the slot again next year. Perhaps 15 to 15 1/4 inches. Must have 2 spots on one side and one on the other.

Matt - Congrats on your first catch!

Congrats on your first kayak reds…welcome to the Lowcountry!
