Hey y’all, I’ve lived in charleston area my whole life and I grew up saltwater fishing on the boat and from the surf; however, I just bought my first kayak after trying and loving the sport. I’m just curious if y’all had an tips for setting up my rod(s) and just general tips for kayak fishing that might not be so obvious or you’ve learned from experience. Any and all advice is appreciated very much!
Keep the rigging simple! Also don’t feel like you have to bring everything and the kitchen sink with you on the kayak…
PFD and a whistle is mandatory gear. Get in the habit of wearing your PFD all the time. Get the lightest paddle you can afford - your arms will thank you. Let someone know where you are going/when you’ll be back (float plan) Dress to swim - rig to flip!
Welcome to the addiction!
