NEW TO KAYAKING

Hey guys, help an Old Ranger out. I’m an experienced bass fisherman and fly fisherman but I just bought my first kayak this week. I just moved to Wadmalaw Island on the marsh at Leadenwah Creek just before you enter Rockville. Does anyone 'yak fish this area and are these tidal creeks and marshes around this area any good? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, an Old Ranger.

Hey Old Ranger…I live in upstate SC so I cant really help you out with that area. I just had my first Yak fishing exp last week in the charleston/MB area It was alot of fun. You might wanna call The Charleston Angler and see if they have any Info.
Goodluck

Ranger,
I haven’t fished down that way, but from looking at the charts, I would imagine that creek holds some fish and doesn’t get a whole lot of pressure. Looks like there’s some pretty fishy areas way back in that creek and a huge mudflat. Just look for oysterbeds or flooded grass, feeder creek mouths, and flats and I’ll bet you can find some fish. A little recon goes a long way. You can transfer a lot of that bass fishing experience to creek fishing. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you do.

I fish when you’re at work.
