Originally from Charleston, now in Southeast GA. Trying to get into kingfishing, and was hoping to get some pointers from some veterans, i.e. trolling speed, depths the fish are in, baits, how far out. Basically any tips are greatly appreciated. Line, what pound test, anything.
menhaden for bait; trolling speed slow enough so bait are free swimming; 15 - 20 lb. line; #4 treble hooks; 5-6 ft of 25 lb flourocarbon between line and rig.

Ron- do you ever have problems with kings cutting that 25lb fluoro leader with their teeth? I’ve lost many to spanish using light leaders. Would barracuda or sharks hit that menhaden and bite you off? We used to use straight wire leaders (30-40 lb) - does anyone have advice as to if wire leaders work ok down here?
Normally I do about 6" of wire, then live bait hook then 6-8" of wire with the stinger treble…that first 6 inch is because of the cutoffs I had

My normal rig has 2 treble connected with 6 inches of number 4 wire. The lead hook has a 30 inch leader of number 3 wire. The flourocarbon can withstand tail whips. Teeth do not come in contact with the fluoro

So you go main line, 5-6 ft of 25 lb flouro leader, 30 inches of #3 wire, main hook, then 6 inches of #4 wire and end with treble?
I used to go main line, 30 inches of wire to a main hook, then continue it to a treble and end it there. Skipped the flouro and the other type wire. But I can see the idea you are getting at with decreased visibility and Increased strength between hooks. Solid.
