Closed the deal on a 1996 boat motor and trailer Scout 192 bay boat with a Yamaha Saltwater series 175 two stroke. Boat is in good shape but needs some things. Got her as a compliment to the Contender so riding around on the lake, bass and redfishing, and pulling the kids skiing would not be as costly with 175 vs 500hp.
So I need:
Trolling motor - have not bought one is years don’t even know where to begin. Don’t want to spend a fortune but need something good for that boat.
Cooler- the cooler in front of the console is MIA. Engel, yetti, igloo? Thoughts?
Electronics - not really sure I need a gps on it but if you know of a great deal going right now please let me know.
Polling platform- it has one. Will I use it? Is it going to be in the way? Done some inshore fishing in the past. Never had one so I don’t know. Take it off and sell or trade it?
Not looking to spend a fortune and I don’t see me dropping the blue water to become all inshore but I would like to give it a try every now and then.
Scott, that is very versitile boat for the lakes and inshore. With a 175 it should really carry the mail. If you’d like to talk about rigging for striper fishin and inshore shoot me a PM or email from the site. I think the original cooler was an igloo marine.
I used to have that same boat year and everything. I would go with a 74# or higher TM. Hopefully you have good TM wires b/c it was a bear to pull a new wire through that foam. You’ll need an Igloo 72qt cooler up front. Shoot me a PM if you have any other ?'s. Congrats on the new boat.
Will get some galvanized wheels for the starboard side and new pin stripes. Thanks for the info on the trolling motor. Where is the best place to buy the TM?
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
I have a Garmin 441s, I really like it. It would work well with your boat. Question, does that boat need a double axle trailer? Just wondering as I am always trying to learn something.

Nice ride!
That is what came with it. Probably an over kill but what do you do?

That"s a nice looking boat, as for trolling motors if you are looking for absolute cheapest price there are some decent places online just pay attn to the shipping cost, but if you dont mind spending a few extra bucks (or maybe not) go to a local boating store and give them the business, its getting hard for these guys to compete with the internet and bigger corp stores. I am sure its safe to say u test drove the boat, i bet it hauled a$$, how fast she run?

in your case too much is better than too little. great rig for what your doing. great rig period.
You will find you rarely actually pole the boat. But keep the platform as it serves as a good place to stand up and get a good view of the flats.
I never thought I would say this, but a Yeti cooler is one bad ass cooler. It kept ice on drinks 4 days in this heat. It is expensive but I think worth it.
