new to offshore fishing help

I’m new to offshore fishing I’m looking to make my first trip late July and i just wanted to see if anyone could offer and equipment advice. I’m from the upstate so here is not a good place to shop for tackle of salt. I have a 22 foot center console with Garmin electronics. I’ve been a few times off shore so i have learned alot but is a total new ball game than freshwater. Looking at a Penn 320gt2 reel but any help would be awesome. Thanks

what will be your main targets?

“Good things come to those who bait”

if you are going to be trolling for dolphins and don’t want to break the bank start of with TLD’s

“Good things come to those who bait”

Anything really just want to catch good eating and fun to catch fish. Also how is the fishing Charleston 60? What kind of rod been looking at some on basspro.com and cabelas.

Penn 4/0 and an ugly stick rod can be had for 150. It will catch black sea bass, dolphin and even grouper with the right line.

if you are going to be trolling a lever drag suits that best. IMO. if you are looking at basspro you can not beat a “offshore angler” standup trolling rod.

I use berkley line in fresh but dont know how the heat would be on mono. what is the best color kind weight 30?

Started my first trips with 320’s( used for striper fishing) went out and lost all the line(30# mono) off all the reels and had to come in from the 226 at 10:00 with only 2 small dlophins! Found 4 senitors and rods at a pawn shop for less tan $100 each. After 20 years I now have gold reels all sizes! I think alot had to do with the first time boat driver also

Thanks! What type leaders and or rigs are yall using or bottom or trolling? Live bait, cut bait, shrimp?

if you want dolphin you need to troll ballyhoo with skirts. illanders, seawitches, squitches, etc… or you can troll naked ballyhoo.

I have 2 brand new only used once TLD20’s with boxes and with matching TLD66 rods like new for $300 if you want them I also have plenty of other offshore equip. if your interested. Reels are loaded with 30lb ande new only used once.

as for bottom fishing just drop anything down there. something will eat it. just get some squid
