New to open water

I am new to open water fishing and trolling, this is the first year I have tried it without a charter. Absolutely love it. I have been following this site and it has been very useful. So, thanks to everyone for all the useful posts. I have a ton to learn still. If anyone is going out and doesn’t mind a rookie on booard, let me know. I’m eager to learn from more experienced people. I’m taking the wife and two of her friends out August 4th (weather permitting), I’m trying to get somemore experience before that trip.

I’ll help any way I can so pm me if you so wish and you can go with me some time or I’ll go with you.Be safe out there!!!

oh yeah i would also be willing to pay for the gas on a trip or the invitation is open for an experienced person to come out with me. I belong to a boat club and the two boats that I like to take out are a 30’ triton and a 23’ sea fox. by the way what depths should I be trolling in August?

Id start in 130 to 140. Head a little north of comanchee hit 130 and start trolling out to 150 to 200. Fish are scattered and while you are trolling use your sonar to mark bottom and hit that on the way home. Look for a weedline etc. Last time I went off I picked up 6 slingers off a plastic blue drum.

Hey thanks for the info bwilliams. I will give it a try.
