Hey guys,
I’m heading up to Charleston with a friend in early April to do some red fishing. We’re both new to it,so we have no clue what to use in terms of bait, lures, and tackle (line strength and rod and reels), so if you could give me some suggestions that would be great. Any important techniques would be great also. We’re going to be fishing primarily in Shem Creek, but we may go out on his boat and do a little fishing close to shore. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
FTF
Check out some of the other discussions by using the search button that you see on the homepage, it will give you more than enough information on inshore fishing. I used to fish Shem creek a lot when I didnt have any kind of watercraft. Don’t get me wrong, you can hook up with a lot of fish in there, but explore other creeks. If you are fishing shem creek in a boat it is really helpful to fish large portions of the creek opposed to fishing one spot.

I’ve heard a lot about DOA shrimp. Any other suggestions along with that?
To me, DOA shrimp work really well on the trout, you also need to know how to work them in the water since you can’t just simply reel in an artificial bait. If you are somewhat new to fishing the best bait is live bait which you can pick up at any of the local tackle shops which can also guide you in the right directions in terms of supplies.
