New to site

Guys, I am new to the website and offshore fishing in general. Big spotted bass guy here on Lake Lanier in ATL. Buddy of mine has a 25 cat with twin 90s and has taken me offshore half a dozen times in the last 3 years from Charleston. We have smoked the dolphins most times but no bill fish yet. We keep pulling those huge plugs though, sure it will happen.

I have a couple questions for my first post and appreciate any ■■■■■■■■. Does the dolphin bite die towards the end of June each year, why, and where do they go? Thanks and great fishing wishes to all.

New to salt and offshore!

They migrate up and down the coast every year. That and the water gets hot so they move on as well. Some stragglers will continue through but the bite does die down at some point every year.

Umm, you gonna eat that?

Thousands have died to save my freedom. Only one has died to save my soul!

25’ Cat with twin 90’s? Check last years posts in June thru summertime. You’ll see often times that people fishing 90-150’ or so bottom fishing tend to catch a few on freelines.

Yes, twin 90 Honda 4 strokes. Not the fastest boat at 1-2 foot seas and 22-24 mph but it gets us out there and it sips gas compared to the bigger boys which is important. As a new offshore guy I appreciate the slow safe ride out there:)

I hear that. That’s my average speed on boats I’ve owned or ran anyways. Just thought that sounded really underpowered for a boat that size. I know that a 24’ CC with a 250 doesn’t run but 24-28 @ 4000 to 4500 rpms so just wondering.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I have a Boston Whaler 2008 230 Dauntless (23.6 length) with a 250 Verado on the back and it will run well over 28 knots or 32 mph at 4500 rpm.
