New to the area

I am new to the area and am looking for some good inland places to fish around Charleston. Any suggestions would be great

We’d like to help you. What part of town are you in?

I am in West Ashley but I am willing to travel outward a bit (James Island, Johns Island, etc)

Got a boat, kayak, canoe? Fishing from shore?

Hoping to get a kayak soon but right now from shore

My wife and I live West Ashley. We have fished from docks and kayaks prior to buying a boat last month, mainly the Wando river. Look for a used Kayak on Craigslist, plus there will be a Kayak festival this weekend at James Island county park, and maybe an opportunity to buy a used or new one. Kayak fishing is awesome. You can move around in extremely shallow water without making a sound, and move right up on fish. As far as dock fishing goes, you can go to the Folly beach pier, the old Mt Pleasant pier, the old Navy yard (now a county park) pier. All great places if you don’t have a Kayak. If you get a kayak, drive up to Paradise island landing off of Hwy 17 north and put in there. The Trout and Redfish fishing is really good there on the upper Wando.
