I’m new to the charleston area and would love any useful information on where and how to catch the sharks in the area.
I often wonder why people on here aren’t willing to give free advice easily. With that being said, there are plenty of fish and ways to fish to go around. Cut bait on just about any rig will get you sharks or rays. I am speaking from the Hilton Head area but I imagine the charleston are is the same. If you are fishing from land then fish shrimp or minnows to get an idea of what is out there. If you have access to a boat then there are a boatload (pun intended) of options as to what and how to fish from artificials to live bait. Structure is almost always productive but the most important thing to learn is the tides. Figure out what you want to go for and research the kinds of tides that will work in your favor.
Multiple spots in the harbor just anchor at a drop off, chum up the water and get ready. Stono inlet is good as well, just need heavy sinkers due to strong current. Any cut bait works. If no boat then the pier or surf late in the evening or night has a good bite.

trust me, there are many people on here who give more info than you could probably ever use on your own…one problem is when somebody starts a new post with something like “how do you do this or that”…my advice is to grab a couple of your favorite cold beverages, sit back and surf this site for a few hours or days, hell even a few weeks’ worth of surfing…if you are looking for pier/beach type fishing advice, check that forum…looking for how to target swordfish, check the offshore forum…trout, flounder and red tips? follow some of the countless reports that fill the inshore reports forums…wanna learn how to shrimp bait in the Fall? the shrimping forum will fill up with reports almost each and every night for 2 months…it is not that people do NOT want to give advice, but when people miss all the FREE advice that comes in the form of an actual report, I think that’s what keeps people from chiming in on a post like this one…don’t come on the board asking how to do it when you can invest some time, see how others are doing it and then develop your own tactics…try them a few times and then maybe ask others for their input…I think you will then find all the help you could possibly need!
