New to Yak Fishing - Looking for places to launch

al, I live on JI, and have scoped it out. There are some drunks that hang out in the middle of the road. Seen them a couple times, once with one with his pants around the ankles pissing off the side of the road. IDK, I’m tempted as it is really close to my house, but I can’t afford a new window if someone busts it out.

Thats a shame cause it looks like a nice area. I might take my chances saturday and head out there. If your car can be broken into at Shem creek then I guess its not safe anywhere. I’ll make sure to use the wifes old escape lol. I’ll bring the pistol though, as always.

I talked with a buddy of mine this evening that said he has used the ramp at the end of Riley St. several times without any problems. May be worth a try one of these days.

Is the ramp at Bulow boat landing safe?

Yes. I have been putting the yak in the creek behind the neighborhood. I love paddling in the creek, but I’m not finding many fish this year. I caught quite a few reds and trouts back there last year year just fishing from the bank. I think its time to broaden my horizons. Are you in that neighborhood? I know that there are several in here with kayaks.

I’m the third house on the right as you come past thwarting pool (main road). Burgundy rodeo with racks and yaks. Stop by and say hi next time you see me out. Want to talk about that creek some more

Will do. I drive an older land cruiser and live a little further down on the left. I’ve seen your trailer full of kayaks many times. Look forward to meeting you.

Tried out the creek at riley rd on James island today. Fished from 830 am to 430 pm. No problems with the car. Only caught 2 15-16 inch trout, big pinfish, small flounder and small lady fish. Got out of there at low tide and had to drag the kayak up 6 feet of mud/random bricks. Its mostly 2 feet deep at low tide with a few deep pockets.
