I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I’m hoping to get a Kayak in the next few weeks and do some fishing this spring/summer.
I’m hoping to buy a decent used yak to get a feel for how I like it. No need to spend $800 if its going to sit in garage (although I doubt it will). If anyone is looking to sell or knows someone that is, please let me know.
you may want to borrow/rent a couple of styles to see what is comfortable for fishing. you can get them all tricked out, but ease of storage access and stability are my biggest criteria.
we dont need no reservations we dont need no cruise control
Dolphin Dave is the man for you. He’ll be able to answer any questions and they also have a rental program where I think they’ll take the price of the rental off if you buy a yak from them… check with him for the details but if you are looking for a new yak I would go there. Even if you are going to buy a used yak I would still start with Dave. He was the first person I talked to about yaks and he really steered me in the right direction and he’s a great fishin buddy too!
Fresh fish tastes much better than fresh kissed butt…
hey I would go see dolphin dave he is an excellent resource for both fishing questions as well as kayaking questions he can steer you in the right direction
If you can hold out until the weekend of April 18,19, and 20, come out to James Island County park for the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival. It is the best opportunity in the region to try out boats and see what is available on the market. All of the major manufacturers are out there with demo boats ready to paddle. You can try every 13 foot sit on top kayak on the market and paddle them one after another. Great sales on new boats going on that weekend. You can also get some great prices on used boats, although most are of the long touring kayak variety. Check out this link for more info: http://www.ccprc.com/index.asp?nid=472
If you are in the Mount Pleasant area, stop by Time Out on Johnnie dodds, (next to yo buritto and Barton and Burwell) and let me show you a few boats.
