Mine is toast. 10 years hard use…no complaints. I’m leaning toward another Motorguide Great White simply because I can use the same “Gator” mount I have without putting additional holes in my boat. It’s a great design too. Can anyone tell me if that type mount can be used with a Minn Kota? I doesn’t look like it from the pics.
Need 24v 50" shaft saltwater of course, hand control. If I could get one a lot cheaper than the other that would sway me too. $860 out the door is the best price I’ve found locally on a 82 lb thrust Great White. Found a 71 lb for 600 online but am concerned about less power. Anyone want to tell me where to find a deal or maybe want to sell a used one.
I would condsider Minn Kota if I could use the same mount. I take it on and off frequently depending on the type of fishing. This gator mount is the best design I’ve seen… is super quick and leaves nothing on the deck to get in the way, plus don’t want added expense and work of putting new holes in the boat etc…
Chris, do you know if it will work?
Think 71 lb thrust is plenty for a 1720 Action Craft?
71 pounds of theust is fine for your boat
the mount will not work, without modifications but they make a quick disconnect mount for the MK also.
you say it leaves nothing on the deck, you mean, except the 2 pucks???
I might throw a wrench in your plan, but I feel like I need to share my experiences with trolling motors…
I have always been a foot control person for over 20 years, until I broke bad and bought a minnkota autopilot saltwater series with the key fob co-pilot. This is also an expensive item, but if you think you like the powerpole, the autopilot trolling motors are unbelievable. The first few months I used the ap, i had a perma-grin each time I fished. It takes some of the stress off an angler in tough conditions. I will never buy another trolling motor that is not an autopilot. In heavy current, wind, etc., the autopilot keeps you on track. Don’t waste time on the copilot motors without the autopilot option. Just my opinion, but from experience. The autopilot allows you to fish without having to worry about the boat trajectory and movement. All hand controls force you to have to touch the motor every few seconds and regular foot controls never allow you to move from the pedal. Co-pilot models without the autopilot cause you to keep your fingers on the pad. believe me…autopilot is the only way to go.
