Haven’t held one, but did notice the gimbal butt, and eyes are different. Have not measured but heard they moved the reel seat forward making the back end of the rod longer but still keeping it at 7’6", which in turn shortens the rod.

Currently bought a combo that came with a shakesphere all white reel on it, and has the line counter 80$. From what I can tell the butt of the rod is slightly different but thats about it.
Saw them at Lake World the other day. Eyes are single support versus current double. That is about all I noticed.
Joby
That's called single-footed eyes and I personally don't like them. Much prefer double or triple. They are obviously much stronger.

Trolling I guess. Used the 7’6" rods when I downrigger fished Bombers at night and wished they were gimballed to fit in the Cannon rod holders. Other than not sure unless LC has a different style rod holder for boards and fl’s.
Murray monsters…funny

What am I missing, why would you want gimbels on inshore set ups? Are you using a belt for 6 pound Murray monsters?
What is the advantage? Something for trolling?
I have offshore Rod Holders on the boat … the rods will roll over from time to time … Gimbal rod ends help prevent the rod from rolling while in the rod holder … It’s not a big deal except when you’re trying to put lines out and the rod rolls wrapping the line around the rodtip …
