I’ll ask…because I don’t have the good sense not to ask…

The jig… is the boat is going to be built around the jig?..from the inside to the outside? I ask because the other local boat builders make a form and build from the outside to the inside…(inside the mold)gelcoat–>glass–>stringers–>etc. Is the jig prepping for building the mold or will the jig be part of the boat?

Pretty heady stuff and fun to watch.

Claim, the jig does not stay in the boat. We do build from the stringers, keel, chine, and sheer band out. Once we flip the boat over it is bare wood on the inside but the stringers and keel are already glued in from the planking process. Basically everything you see with blue tape on it is removed.

We have gotten quite a bit done this week. We finished the lamination of the keel and stringers and got them shaped. We also started laminating the chine and sheer band. We have a few layers on and about 3 to go. This is the time consuming part waiting on epoxy to cure. We also started on the rib bands. The boat is getting to a stage where you can really start to see the shape!

This could be the greatest offseason thread ever. Maybe better than “Tiny Bikini’s and Deep Diving” for us old married men, OK maybe not. Great looking boat so far.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Thanks SaltyDog!

Still moving forward. The laminations on the chine and sheer seem to eat a lot of time. The chine is shaped and the final layer is laminated on the sheer. Also got the first layer of the transom on!

Sheer band is shaped, two layers on the transom, and one layer on the bottom. Now to the sides tomorrow!!!

If it has not been asked already, what are you planning on powering that thing with?

Twin Yamaha 350 4 strokes on an Armstrong bracket.

How much fuel tankage? I have heard these motors love gas!

Long day today but first layer of side planking is on. 3/8" okume marine ply.

Amazing work guys. Keep it up!

fish nude so u can show off ur pole…

Second layer is on!!!

This is what we did with the end of the keel we cut off to fit the transom.

If that shape can’t cut water then, the Vikings would never have discovered America.

Can you imagine the Vikings with access to Yamaha 3000hp’s?

This week has been a bunch of small details and meticulous work leading up to fiber glassing. We started the glass today and should be wrapped up by the end of the week.

That’s sweet!

Keep the pictures coming.
