I’ve been on this site for almost a year now and spend most of my time on the surf fishing forum. Combing through this forum though got me on to the sport of kayak fishing and after watching tons of videos I couldn’t resist anymore and decided to join. Started off basic and went with the Perception Pescador Angler 12 and I’m pretty excited to get this thing in the water once my roof rack arrives. I’ve already started modding it with just basic essentials (extra flush mount rod holder, milk crate, anchor trolley) and I’ll add more once I get in the water and see how everything feels so I’m not just adding stuff to be adding stuff. Anyhow since you guys are the pros I just wanted to hear what you guys have on your yaks that you feel you just could not do without. I just want some ideas to have in mind so when I get out there I can decide if I would feel the same way as well. Any and all input is welcome!!!
some things that comes to mind are quality pliers and a cheap landing net, particularly for wrangling stingrays, which I hook from time to time with bait. Unless anyone else has better advice on how to avoid/deal with…
Landing net is a must. Lost a HUGE doormat TWICE when I first started. Popped the line trying to wrangle it into the yak. Never been out without one since. One of my favorite things that I made was just adding a few rod holders out of some spare PVC onto my cooler. Keeps my net and rods in the back where they are out of the way. Put a few on your milk crate. They come in handy. Good luck!
All fishermen are liers except me and you and I’m not sure about you.
Net is a great accessory…you can get a standard-size one and cut down the handle to make it easier to handle. EGO makes a great net.

Ill add advice to stay away from fine mesh nets. will constantly snag treble hooks. reducing snags and tangles on a kayak is a constant battle.
This one works for me. never rusts. Recently lost it, wont be painful to get another.
Man I didn’t even think about a net. Good advice guys. I’ll be sure to get one for my first trip out. Would hate to have to learn the hard way and lose a big one!
