Hey everyone who enjoys this website. I am new to saltwater fishing being from inland all my life. I own a 15 ft key West with a 50HP on the back.
I am wanting to go slightly off the coast of Edisto Saturday…about 100 or so yards. I am getting greedy and tired of catching trout, weakfish and stingrays.
2 questions that I hope someone can be of some help please.
-
Am I nuts for wanting to go out there Saturday with such a size boat? 3-5 seas 10 mph wind
-
What can I expect to catch 100 yards off shore?
Thanks for anyones response!

If you can round up a kicker and get a sea tow membership you can fish the ledge Saturday and catch dolphin. Actually, just the sea tow will do.

Brian, Give it time. The water will warm up soon and seas will be more favorable. you can hit the shipping channel and p/u king and spanish.

grander Black marlin will be spawning in that area in the next couple of weeks, but you will definately see the 400-500 pounders feeding right outside the surf zone. Just be quiet, and you’ll hook up.
I am going to go out this morning and see what I can damage. I appreciate the help you guys gave and maybe i can put it to some use.
Update this evening
“Better off fishin’ than dead”
Found it much easier in the creeks around edisto. Caught some good size whiting and either a dogfish or a shark with the most fins i have ever seen.
We tried to get out into the ocean a little ways but couldnt get anchored.
Better luck next time

If you are truly dying to get out then stay in touch…We go offshore each time the weather allows. Sometime during the week and other times simply when we can get a crew (usually 2-4 anglers).
You can go out and fish with us, we are always looking fishing buddies. We have several boats that we go out on 23-26’.
