Just bought my first push pole and was wondering if i need too take it out of the holders while storing the boat. will it retain the slight bend if i leave it on boat all the time?

Just take it out of the forward-most holder while storing, so it stays straight. I have no idea if they will retain the bent shape if you leave them in all of the holders, but I had the same worry as you so I just pop it out of the last holder to give me peace of mind.
yes, store it straight, it will retain a “memory” if stored bent all the time

thanks for the info. any tips on how to temporary secure pole when your poling and want to pick up a rod quick. ive been holding the pushpole between my legs when i pick up a rod, but that makes my balance poor because my feet are close together.

Not sure if it is the right way, but I use a rope that is tied to the platform. The rope has a carabiner attached to the end. When I need to stop I just wrap the rope around the pole and clip the carabiner. That way I don’t have to waste time tying a knot. Sure there are better ways, but this works for me!

A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.
