newbie

my buddy has a small boat that he brings down time to time.

we were planning on going right off the beach (not far at all) and trying to get a king or some spanish

any suggestions on a realistic spot? i plan on netting some pogies or jigging up some small blues or something for bait and just freeline them or maybe try some sort of ghetto trolley rig

is wire always necessary? heavy flourocarbon work? i figure a stinger hook is necessary but im not 100% on a rig setup

any help would be appreciated. i can compensate with a cold beer or 2

If your boat is large enough and the sea agrees you can go to Paradise Reef (Three mile Reef) just outside of MI jetties. Spanish and kings can both be had on pogies or spoons. Flourocarbons will work but smaller wire on a duster rig works better. Go to rigs on this web site for duster rigs. After May you will catch them from the jetty to as far as you can go. Most kings in that area are 10-15 lb and spanish 2-5.
