Newbie ?

When renewing my license the other day decided to try shrimp baiting this year. Have the license showing the purchase, will SCDNR mail out the tags as the season approaches or do you have to go to one of the offices to pick them up?

They will mail them before the season opens. Good luck this season! I hope its going to be better than the last few.

Amen to that Brother! The last 2 years have stunk.

Ordered my Salt, Fresh, and Shrimp license online on 1.Jul.2014 and got them in the mail the next week.

We’ve only been doing it two years now and I thought they have been pretty good! haha. I’ll say two things for the newbie. Fiberglass poles and bait binder.

I had a friend talk me into the fiberglass poles to start and I’m glad that he did. They’re way easier and you don’t have to worry about them rusting. We got them from the guy in newberry for around $150 at that time.

Bait binder is way easier and less messy than clay and meal. A bag can last you several trips.

Got tags in the mail last week. Have a friend that has a set of fiberglass poles I can use, he no longer baits.

Just need to get out in the yard and get to practicing with my big net.

River Rat…
got out in the yard with some of my relatives (outlaws) from WV last weekend to throw the net a few times and teach them how to throw a 7 footer. Turns out…I’m a pretty good teacher. Had fun and made some memories for the landlubbers.
