Newcomer seeks advice.

New to area and trying pier fishing at Mt Pleasant Waterfront Park with little success so far. Would like some ■■■■■■■■ on this or other shore fishing sites and also what is best recommended for bait.

Well if you are using 2 hook double rigs (which is what I did, when I first arrived, to this beautiful place.) Put them away and go to your nearest LOCAL tackle shop and purchase some egg sinkers (1/4 oz, up to 3/4 depending on current and tidal flow), some swivels (I prefer matte black some toothy critters in our ocean like to bite the shiny ones), leader material of some sort (recently went to flourocarbon and I like it a lot sort of pricey), circle hooks (Gamakatsu just a personal preferance), and some mud minnows. Walk around the edge of the pier on the right hand side, cast out and walk to back slowly surely you will find you a flounder at the pier. Also this is no guarantee that you will catch fish just my personal choice of rigging. Stick with the pier, it holds fish.

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
