This morning, we got bait from David around 6:30 and headed out with one downrod a piece out of the locker. 42 feet of water, Spoon put down his rod a couple cranks off, and before he could turn around a 26 incher buried it. The next 5 were mine. Then we were both done by shortly after 7:30. 6 of our 10 were 22-26 inches, the other 4 were 16-20.5. After reporting to DNR a stray pwc, we were loaded and heading home shortly after 8:00. I both love and hate 5-and-done at the same time:smiley:. Fishing the Hill with Gary on Wednesday.
As usual, another fun trip, Fog. Thanks again! The fish were all cleaned and in the 'fridge long before lunchtime. I sure do like the electric knife fish cleaning technique, quick and easy.
Next time maybe we should try fishing two or three places where there arenât or havenât been any fish, instead of going straight to a good spot. That way we could maybe fish a little longer. Then again, it was nice to be off the water before it got hot yesterday. Thanks again.
I took a buddy and his daughter out Saturday. Could not resist cut bait on the same hump as last week. Ended up with a dozen, almost all keepers. Same 4.5 to 5.5 pound fish as last week. It was almost all early before the front came by.
The best advice I can give you is to go to the Midlands Striper Clubâs web site. Scroll down and read the section called âtips and techniquesâ. If you are local to Columbia and really want to learn about striper fishing consider joining their club. The rigs Fog and I used on 6/7/14 were very similar to Carolina rigs that largemouth fishermen use, except for using much smaller hooks and of course live bait.
