Nice Day

Nice day on Lake Murray. Found a cove to myself, and had 5 keepers by 10:a Larger fish on down lines 30’ to 50’ smaller on free lines.
1 26" 2 25" 2 "24. About 10 to 12 smaller, glad it was not June yet. Now on my way to Charleston and a day of off shore fishing tomorrow. Not often you get a nice day fishing and a nice day. Life is good

I hate that June is pretty much here. It just doesn’t make sense if we are catching them on planers and top water plugs we should be allowed to fish more. Maybe they should consider June15 or July 1

What kind of boat yall running offshore in? We had plans to go but cancelled. I have been beat up too much out there. 4-5x8’s are not fun in a 25’ boat.

Been sitting in my office all day thinking it would be nice to be out. Oh well, I got bait and lunch so I’m ready to launch as soon as I get out. Got river water in the tank so the bait should stay cool.

I agree on changing the dates. I think July and August would be fine. Even when the surface is hot in June the water is much cooler 3’ down. But overall I think the law is good and will help the fishery. Especially if we avoid the fish kills.

I’m fishing for greenies, dang stripers just keep eating my flies and spooks:wink:

Just because the law says you can keep the small fish doesn’t mean you have to. I’m sure there that a lot of diehards like me that try to release all they can! I’ve had some come back up and get eaten by an osprey, Quite a sight!! Tim, I know what you mean about being beat to death in a small boat off shore, I’ve even been beat in a larger boat 50’+. Wish I lived on the coast so I could pick the days, be better than spending time on the hill looking at the ruff seas. I’m retired and can go any time but have to go when my crew can!

I guess you don’t have to keep them but you are still only allowed to catch 5 fish no matter if you keep or release. I think June is a good date, it’s just this year has been a mild spring so it’s kept water temps down. Years past water temps have been upper 80s already.
