nice end to 2011

went out last night and for not having a boat did really well. i got a 26" and 16" red along with a 19.5" trout on the electric chicken jig and a 22" red on blue crab in the weapons station. also missed a hit that nearly took the rod from my hand and also a good rattle on the jig. caght most of them right at dusk at the end of an outgoing tide. the rest of the river doin good as well?

If you are doing that from shore, you are doing well. Good job! Wish I was down there this weekend.

theres all but the 26" red that had to go back. on a side note the 26" red had a bass plug stuck in its throat if anyone lost a nice red on a plug…however when i got it out it was pretty banged up.

Very nice trout. I’d take that over a red any day of the week.

I was about to start waxing the boat but once again reading the site is going to change today into a fishing trip! Congrats on the catch man.

Really great fishing especially from shore. Nice fish and that is one big trout. Was good that you were able to get that plug out.

Nice… That trout’s a beauty!

We only got 1 22" red yesterday and that was fishing a good part of the day. Skunked this am. I wouldn’t use me as a benchmark though for how the redfish may be biting overall in the river.

BTW, one of the guys fishing with us this morning grew up with my sons and is now a naval officer. He just moved to Mt P a few days ago for 18 months to attend some kind of nuke school (starts Wed)…in Goose Creek I think?

Anyway, I was telling him I thought there may be areas he would have access to to fish from the bank that civilians wouldn’t. Would appreciate any info I might could pass on to him. He loves to fish. I was hoping we did better, but we did at least get him his first sheepshead and he really enjoyed that.

Before 9/11 us civilian folk use to be able to get back on the weapons station by getting a fishing pass from the security office . We would go out there and fish all night and tear them up ! Pier Bravo use to be our favorite to fish from !

Nice catches !

great catch for being off land. is that in north charleston or down town?

its in goose creek and striper skiff i sent you a PM

got the pic of my bigger red off my phone. electric chicken paddle tail and big reds are a blast on my walleye rod! (7 foot medium action lightning rod w 15lb line)

ONN - Nice fish. Every time I pass the NWS I imagine all the fish that must be hanging around those piers, banks etc. Keep the good posts coming as I always like to read what kinda arti’s and equipment folks are using.

not sure what the rules are now that the patrol boats actually use it actively as a landing, but when I was here as a student at nuke school/NPTU a few years ago we used to crush the trout at Pier Charlie this time of year.

Last time I tried (this past summer some time) I got ran off by security, but it was at night, and I’ve since seen people fishing there when I’ve passed by in my boat so maybe daytime is OK. If you can get there, try the upstream wingwall at high/slight ebb tide with anything, should be some trout hangin around…
