Nice long ride

Not a fishing post but it is boating related. Friday morning loaded up the kids and the wife and pulled away from my dock on the Stono River. 126 miles later down the waterway we got off on the dock at the Westin Hotel in Savannah just in time for umbrella drinks by the pool. This is the 3rd year in a row we have made the trip and it is one of the nicest stretches of the ICW there is. We spent the weekend doing Savannah and cruised back on Sunday. 2 kids (8 and 10) chilled on beanbags and took in the sites, container ships, osprey, dolphins, sturgeon, alligators etc. I would encourage anyone thinking about it to definitely make the trip. It makes us realize how great the low county of South Carolina is.

Nice. My wife and I have made the trip in reverse from Savannah to Charleston a couple of times. We start in Clyo, about 40 miles upriver from Savannah. It’s a beautiful trip all the way. The Westin is very nice, great destination for a day trip. So is the Charleston Harbor Resort if doing it backwards.

Also the Beaulieu House on Cat Island in Beaufort is a great place to break the trip into 2 days.

That is a great trip, I lived in Savannah right out of college from 2009-2012 and had a blast. Kept my boat at Thunderbolt Marina, and would always make trips to Beaufort, Hilton Head, and frequently visited Daufuskie Island bars.

Plenty, there is a public dock that you can tie up to. If it’s busy just keep going around to the Old Daufuskie Crab Company.
