Fished Friday afternoon and caught three trout a nice 3lb flounder and a 4lb black drum in about an hour and a half. Wanted to throw the fly but wind was a bit much. Used a grub that was easier to cast and cover ground. Monday fished a flat just after daybreak and found the reds pushing in the shallow calm water. Could see several schools working one bank that was very shallow and waded into position to intercept them. Landed three of six that hit the fly (a marabou muddler) from 22 to 27". These fish just milled along that bank for two hours and you could see their every move it was so calm. The strikes were violent and sudden spooking the school each time but they would move off a short distance then bunch up and head my way again. My stripping finger is still bleeding from the small cut my line makes when the big boys charge. I need to come up with a finger guard to protect me pinky! Absolutely a great morning.
Marshmellow, Nina and I are headed to Alaska early June. I already have a fly fishing excursion locked in. I know you’ve fished many of places how about alaska?

Sounds like a nice weekend!
Bass, say hi to the family! Been doing the fly thing quite a bit lately for both reds and trout. I’ve never been to Alaska but would kill to go. Fished Western Washington State for salmon and trout and really enjoyed that. I would imagine you will be fishing for rainbows in the rivers as it’s a little early for the salmon. Give me a shout when you get back and let’s fish. Thought you’d gotten to uppity to fish with Marsh since you got that new ride!
Ashville, it is always nice when the wind lays down and you can stalk these fish on foot with the long rod. I’m headed your way in the next few weeks to take avantage of the delayed harvest areas (assuming you are in Ashville). Hope to do a couple of week days before the tubers and bait chuckers take over. Any sugestions on areas or flies would be appreciated.
Schools just about out. I would love to hit the water with you again. You know I’m not much of a foot stalker. Remember last time I looked like a three legged elephant trying to sneak up on fish. It’s tough being a fat boy. We will hook up soon though. The last time we fished by them old boats was pretty cool. Would like to try that area again some day.
