Fished the last two hours and first two hours of low tide yesterday. Caught a couple of toadfish, a flattie and several rats on Carolina rigs with mudders. Highlight of the day/weekend/year was my niece’s redfish! I was more geeked about it than she was! Good times with great company. Thank God for the Lowcountry…
Thank y’all for the replies. I respect each of you and look forward to your posts, especially Penny’s . I don’t have kids myself, but I can now relate to those of you who’ve put someone you love and/or care for on their first fish. Something I’ll never forget…
I remember my first fish. I was fishing using a 12’ cane pole with my grandfather for crappie on Clarks Hill(lake russell now.) He wouldn’t let me have the long one(18’), eventhough I just new it was his lucky stick, though come to find out years later, he was just that good a fisherman.I was just over 4 years old and was hooked. I promise she won’t forget that. Good job Uncle Black Bart. I’m only a few weeks away from being an Uncle for the first time too. I hope I can take my neices fishing one day.
Clarks Hill is now Lake Thurmond, but it will always be Clarks Hill to us…
And I have no children but have had the pleasure of fishing and shrimping with my young niece…the joy of such simple things to them humbles me…
I caught my first red in my bass boat i brought here from Clarks Hill. The next week it was sold so i could buy a creek boat, McKee Craft! Congrats to the young lady!
Thanks for your kind remarks, BB. I always hope that my posts entertain and secretly hope that it inspires someone else to take a kid fishing. You fulfilled that wish.
What greater gift to give to a kid for practically free? A lifetime’s worth of joy on the water.
We’ll have to figure out a way to get you, her and our clan on a boat. Megan could use a fellow fisherwoman!
THE FEET! Don’t leave me hanging, Penny!
