Night fishing with lights.

Has any one here ever gone INSHORE night fishing fishing with submersible lights before. Ive done it a million time in fresh water for crappie and striper but never on saltwater. I have been pier fishing in beaufort and savannah and seen a ton of bait fish come up to the lanterns and saw what looked like troout and spanish mauling the bait. Me and my buddy want to try it but I have only heard of light fishing for swordfish offshore.

Any replys would be appreciated.

if you have a light setup that is portable and saltwater compatible then i would say hell yea. take it to you favorite trout/red hole and give it a try.

64 reads already and only one reply? Come on guys I know some of you vets have some input be it positive or negative.

Use the Search Function. This topic was covered recently and some really good info and links were posted.

Haven’t had time of time to use them fishing at night, but they look reel cool at the dock.

I use to use then for sword fishing offshore. I would hesitate to try them in shore.

Never done it, but i would tend to agree with 6ft on this. May take a lil time to get the food chain started as opposed to existing dock lights. But there is absolutely no reason why it shouldnt work, esp if you are somewhere that you target during the day.

that would be nasty over a wreck at night

Tunanut That is absolutely Baddass!!! Let me know how you do!!

I have two 4 foot lights that work great.I will use them off my dock maybe next week. They will bring in the bait fish.Nephew has one mounted underwater from Green light and sent me pics of several big snook all over the light.I already know trout will get undr a dock and hide and attack into the bait that comes to the light.

Well thanks for the input guys. Guess I just gotta try for my self and see what happens.

I used to “dip” shrimp at night under lights with my grandfather near Mosquito Lagoon FL.The trout would come to the light as soon as the glass minnows and other small baitfish arrived(less than an hour). They would hit white crappie jigs with abandon for a while and get wise to them.We could switch to small live shrimp during a lull in the dipping and they would hit them pretty well.I would think if you set up just off the ICW in a large creek with the current pushing around some structure, this would work well around here.I would not try to compete with established dock lights, though.Get out in the middle of nowhere.GOOD LUCK!!
