Do you guys think it’s to early to start night fishing around lower end thinking about trying it Saturday night just have no clue where
I don’t think you would have any problem catching fish at night right now if you can find them. If nothing else as hot as it has been you should get some relief from the heat. I usually start in june when the water temp is about 80. It also helps fishing at night with all the boat traffic that is on the weekends right now. You just have to watch out for the crazies running around the lake in the dark!

I will start night fishing harder in about 3 weeks. I went a week ago and couldn’t find anything but 1 short and a catfish.
Water temps closer to 80 will allow the lights to draw the bait up more as they will not be scattered around the lake as much. Not sure why, maybe the higher surface temps and sun create more micro organisms, so the bait is closer to the surface this time of year.
I usually stay south of Spence, and fish humps and points with downlines and a hydroglow light.
Good luck, post up what you find.

Night fishing was excellent 3 weeks ago but seems to have died. I pretty much go 1 night a week. Last Saturday it was all shorts around the dam. Couldn’t find fish anywhere else I looked (beach area up into Jakes) Last week we got some around Bomb but I think only 2 keepers. Last night we fished Bomb, Johns and Halmark. Got some short a nice LM and a giant crappie. The surface temp went from 65 to 77 in the last week. I broke both of my hydroglows, so that’s not helping things. I will probably try ballentine/pine island next week

Are you just drifting/trolling with downrods or are you still using Freelines and planers?

Trolling freelines, planers and 4 down going between .4 to .9 mph. Even tried spotlocking on a 25’ hump where we marked some on the bottom.
